The studio albums of Tracy Chapman, an anthropology student who busked in Harvard Square, was signed off a college-radio demo tape, and became famous in a single afternoon in June 1988 when she stood in at short notice for Stevie Wonder at Wembley. Eight albums, 1988 to 2008 — a six-times-platinum debut that won three Grammys, a second that came a year later, and a run that kept selling steadily without ever trying to repeat itself. There are no live albums here, no EPs, no reissues and no holiday record: eight studio albums and almost nothing else in thirty-five years, which is why the wrong answers in this set have to come from elsewhere.
