How scoring works

Medals

A medal is what a quiz awards you for how well you played it, at the difficulty you chose. You keep the best one you have earned; a weaker run never takes it away.

• Bronze: a perfect run on Easy, or 80% or better on Medium.
• Silver: a perfect run on Medium, or 80% or better on Hard.
• Gold: a perfect run on Hard. Nothing below a perfect Hard run earns Gold, so a run that goes clean on an easier setting will not lift you past Silver.

A perfect Gold run with a modifier switched on adds a mark to the medal: ★ for Random order, † for Sudden Death, and both if you used both.

A map puzzle has neither modifier, so its two marks are for speed: ★ for a solve under the star par time, † for one under the dagger par time.

Untimed runs are practice. They are never scored and never earn a medal, so the medal on a quiz always came from a real timed attempt.

A few modes, like Match, have no Easy/Medium/Hard choice: the whole board is the one setting. On those, a perfect run still earns Gold and a strong run (80% or better) still earns Silver, the same cutoffs Hard uses elsewhere.

In Match, a wrong guess costs that pair its point, even once you clear it. A wrong guess elsewhere doesn't cost you, you can keep trying: only the pair the wrong guess was on loses its point.

In Ranked, you get one point for each item already in the right order relative to the others: rows marked ✓ on the results screen are in sequence together; rows marked ▲, ▼ or ✗ broke the sequence, with ▲ / ▼ showing how many spots away from its true slot it sits. An item tied with its neighbor counts as correct in either order.
