Joan Baez Quiz

The studio albums of Joan Baez, who arrived fully formed at the first Newport Folk Festival in 1959, turned down a major label for a small one, and spent the next six decades using the most famous soprano in folk music on other people's songs — Dylan's, Phil Ochs's, the Band's, Violeta Parra's, Steve Earle's. Twenty-five albums, 1960 to 2018, including a Christmas record, an album of spoken-word poetry, one sung entirely in Spanish, and one written for a husband who was in prison for refusing the draft. The numbering will look wrong: there is no Volume 3 or Volume 4, because those places belong to two live albums. They turn up here as wrong answers instead, along with the record she took to court to suppress.
